Summer’s End
My husband and I reluctantly said goodbye to summer this weekend by
taking down the veggie garden and collecting the last of the food. Then we gave
the potted garden the Chelsea Chop (a brutal pruning nearly to the soil line in some cases, but which helps encourage new winter growth indoors) and brought them inside to the
sunny bank of windows near the rear of the house, where they’ll give us some
beauty and fragrance in winter.
Here you see the young avocado trees, ginger, lemongrass,
lemon scented geranium, flowering geranium. These are always sad times for me.
It was a wonderful, prosperous summer in the garden. Thank you, Mother Earth!
