Dare we discuss this?

Dinner at Ned and Luz's home tonight. I brought the Brown's onion catalog and we talked long-day varieties. I'll order Walla Walla and say a prayer. My onions always rot in the ground, but Ned has wild success. Of course, this is the man who grows fresh lettuce throughout winter (it was on our dinner plates tonight).

Anyway, each day, the 2008 seed catalogs roll out of the mailbox like oranges. They're lovely. It almost feels deranged to talk of spring planting as snow piles up on the perennial garden. But it's a lovely dream. Five more minutes.
