Welcome to Fourth Truths Homestead

This blog has been around for more than 11 years now. That sentence just blew my mind.

There have many changes here over the years. Content has evolved from a focus limited almost strictly to gardening, to subjects like Buddhism, Buddha nature, veganism, compassion, building community, and higher consciousness. Last year, a new look was rolled out. Now, this blog has a new, more relevant name.

Two years ago, my husband I and looked around our home and gardens and realized that what we have going here is a small homestead. We’re growing veggies – lots of veggies – as well as flowers, herbs, beans, and fruit. We were keeping chickens and tending dogs.

We’re composting, fermenting food, making natural and organic cosmetics, writing, and even teaching. Our kitchen is a busy place where vegan food abounds, where we feed friends and family, and spread the message as best we can about compassionate food choices.

A homestead needs a name. That summer, we sat with the Sa-Dags -the spirits that inhabit this land - and it wasn’t long before the homestead’s name was given to us: Four Truths.

The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism express Buddhism’s core belief: that to liberate ourselves from dukkha (suffering) and the cycle of samsara (the cycle of dying and rebirth), we must embrace impermanence and sunyata (emptiness) along our journey to nirvana.

This fits both our deepest beliefs and the highest principles of gardening. We have great Qi here at our home and our homestead. We strive to use it to serve others, to heal as many as possible, to bring sustainability to our lives, to act as a bridge between dimensions, and to spread love, light, peace, wisdom, and the message of the most precious Dharma.

Let us know if you approve.
